Faculty Senate meetings will continue on the first Wed of every month for July and Aug. Senate Council meetings will be reduced to once every four weeks, staggered with Faculty Senate over the summer. Logistics of continued meetings over Zoom were discussed.
- On-going revision to the Faculty Senate Bylaws was discussed. Discussion in the Faculty Senate Council will be tabled until things are calmer.
- Tenure Policy requires some revision for clarification. The Tenure Policy Committee was meeting prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, these discussions will resume via Zoom.
- Two of the three committees that ensure ethical research conduct require new membership , as extant members are retiring. These include the Ethical Screening Committee, which first reviews any allegations of research misconduct, and the Committee on Ethical Research Performance , which provides in-depth review in some cases. Suggestions/nominations for membership were solicited.
- The two Chairs of the Committees on Appointment and Promotions will present summaries at the June Faculty Senate meeting. In addition, an update will be provided on the Middle States process.
- Mechanisms for students and faculty to report to ombudspersons was discussed, and how this may be approved.
