Dean’s Report
The Dean’s report was deferred until the November meeting.
Speaker’s Report
Senate Speaker Jeff Segall was unable to attend the meeting. Vice Speaker Elyse Sussman reported on the recent Board of Overseers meeting held at the Harmonie Club. At that meeting, Dr. Spiegel provided a Dean's report similar to that given to the Senate at the September meeting. This was followed by a presentation by Drs. Steven Walkley and John Foxe on the revitalized Rose Kennedy Intellectual and Development Disabilities Center.
Committee on Committees
Vinayaka Prasad, Chair of the Committee on Committees, reported on the formation and composition of the Faculty Review Committee. He also nominated Todd Olson as Parliamentarian. This was approved by the Senate.
Election of Senate Officers
The election of officers was presided over by Todd Olson. The current Speaker (Jeff Segall), Vice-Speaker (Elyse Sussman), Secretary (Teresa DiLorenzo), and Treasurer (Amos Orlofsky) all ran unopposed and were re-elected.
Harris Goldstein: Overview of Shared Facilities at Einstein
Harris Goldstein, Assistant Dean for Scientific Resources, described Einstein’s shared facilities and how to access them.
Bernice Morrow: Genomics Core
Bernice Morrow, Faculty Director of the Genomics Core, provided an overview of the services provided by this core facility.
Marti Grayson: Update on Medical Education at Einstein
Marti Grayson, Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education, described the organizational structure for medical education, as well as national trends and new initiatives developed during her first 22 months at Einstein.
