Institute for Health Equity at Montefiore Einstein
The mission of the Institute for Health Equity at Montefiore Einstein is to support, strengthen, and advance health equity in basic science, clinical, and translational research. We seek to investigate, understand, and divert the root causes of disparities in health outcomes among the local Bronx population we serve, through research and community engagement.
We support research teams and community partners who focus on social determinants of health and other key drivers of health disparities prevalent in the communities we serve. Our goal is to build a supportive, team-oriented community of researchers working together across disciplines to generate information and actionable insights that will improve equity in health and healthcare delivery in the Bronx and beyond.

Our approach integrates Bronx community voices into all phases of research through active and meaningful collaboration. We prioritize partnerships and opportunities that uplift community perspectives, insights, and lived experience in research.
We believe the innovative and interdisciplinary solutions needed to end the persistent health inequities that affect our communities are within reach. We support the development of new teams and new research tools to improve data collection and access, ensure findings are broadly and accessibly shared, and enhance the integration of interventions to close health disparities across centers and institutes at Montefiore Einstein.
