Dean Spiegel commented on the accomplishments of some of the faculty in terms of the remarkable quality of the science performed and successes in getting new NIH grants. He saluted Dr. Irwin Merkatz’ accomplishment for his 33 years as Chair of Obstetric, Gynecology and Women’s Health and welcomed Dr. Sharmila Makhija as the New Chair of this Department. Dean Spiegel also announced that Dr. Balazs Halmos from Columbia University will join Einstein and head the Cancer Genomic Program. Dean Spiegel provided a detailed description of the tour around the Van Etten building that he and Dr. Safyer undertook.

Dr. Emmons, Head of the Tenure Committee, provided an update on the suggested modifications of the Tenure Policy, some of which were clarification of text and others substantive in nature.

Mrs. Ramirez, Human Resource Officer, gave a slide presentation describing the process involved in the transition, focusing on the WARN notice, COM onboarding process, and some aspects related to Payroll and Benefits.
