The minutes of the September 7, 2011 meeting were modified and approved.

On October 4, the basic science chairs will meet with the dean, Freedman and Shivers to discuss the letter from the chairs regarding proposed changes to the graduate program. The continuing concern is financial responsibility for students mentored by nontenured faculty with no funding. The responsibility of the chairs to support the mentoring of students by faculty who have a high likelihood of success in acquiring additional research funding was emphasized.

The search committee for a new chair of Pediatrics has been compiled. Dr Ozuah will remain as chair as well as COO for Montefiore until a replacement is found.
