PRESENT: Drs. Allen Spiegel, Jeffrey Segall, Elyse Sussman, Steven Almo, Barbara Birshtein, Chandan Guha, Ellie Schoenbaum, Victor Schuster, Pamela Stanley, Steve Walkley, Olivia Vergnolle, Ed Burns, Steve Baum/Allison Ludwig, Mr. Ross Firestone

EXCUSED: Drs. Myles Akabas, Roy Chuck, Johanna Daily

The Associate Professor CAP was approved.

Dr. Burns proposed changes to the promotions process.

  1. To drop the modifying term ‘clinical’ from the title for CET track faculty.
  2. To propose the possibility of Tenure of Title for faculty on the Montefiore payroll upon promotion to Professor
  3. Possibility of faculty appointment for nurses, physicians assistants and others who provide important teaching functions.

The changes were approved.

There was a discussion of the process of promotion, with the policy set by the handbook.

Dr. Freedman continued a presentation on the graduate program. There is a desire to increase the size of the graduate program, and a plan is being developed to aggressively recruit additional applicants and revise the interview process to enhance the presentation of the exciting science being done at Einstein.

The meeting adjourned at 4 p.m.
