The followup survey visit of the LCME to assess the issues found in the most recent review took place. The visit went well, and hopefully the noncompliant items have been adequately addressed though there will remain items that will be followed such as acquiring degree granting capability.
The first step in acquiring degree granting capability - application to Middle States - is about to be submitted. New York state and US Department of Education approval will come after that.
The fifth president of Yeshiva University has been elected – Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman, beginning July 2017.
A new Psychiatry chair, Dr. Jonathan Alpert, has been has been selected and accepted.
The potential impact of the election on Montefiore/Einstein is being evaluated, but this will depend on what changes may take place with the ACA.
Mr. Al Seminsky started providing an update on development efforts. The silent phase of an Einstein Campaign with a goal of 250 million for research and 75 million for endowment over 5 years has begun. A Montefiore campaign will also roll out in a few years to synergize with the Einstein campaign and form a larger overall campaign. A consultant firm – Development Guild - is being hired to aid in developing plans of the campaign. The update will continue at the next council meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Jeffrey E. Segall, Ph.D.
Speaker, Einstein Senate
