MINUTES OF SENATE COUNCIL MEETING

PRESENT: Drs. Allen Spiegel, Jeffrey Segall, Myles Akabas, Julia Arnsten, John Blanchard, Robbie Burk, Johanna Daily, Meredith Hawkins, Elizabeth Kitsis, Ellie Schoenbaum, Courtney Niland, Ed Burns, Mx Logan Hughes-Hogan

Future agenda items were planned. John Harb will be asked to summarize recent results from the Offices of Biotechnology and Business Development. Al Seminsky will be asked to provide an update on development efforts.

The two recent network outages were discussed. The first outage reflected an error by YU IT while the second was due to an error by Montefiore IT. Shailesh Shenoy and Jed Shivers will be asked to provide an IT update to the Senate.

There was an update on the Cancer Center Director search. The selection of the Director will be coordinated with the appointment of the new Dean. Faculty searches are ongoing in a number of departments. A presentation on faculty demographics will be one of the future agenda items

The recent appointment of Phil Ozuah as President of Montefiore Health System was discussed.

The Middle States team site visit regarding the degree granting application will be March 12/13.

A joint Einstein-Montefiore Board committee is being formed to consider real estate opportunities in our Morris Park neighborhood especially if a rail station sited near Einstein becomes a reality.
