- Meeting minutes from the Mar 18, 2020 Senate Council meeting were reviewed.
- On-going effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on College operations were discussed. Staff reduced to essential personnel, which has been an effective measure for reducing density of people on campus. The potential for early graduation of medical students, in order to burnish the medical professional workforce, was discussed. Students are learning remotely, and this is likely to continue for a while.
- Clinical aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic were discussed. Gov. Cuomo mandated that all NY hospitals increase capacity by 50%. Hutchinson Campus and Westchester Square are potential treatments sites. There are potential issues with PPE availability.
- To aid with COVID-19 response, Einstein has reached out to all alumni within 100-mile radius to see if any can help. In addition, HR has surveyed Einstein staff and students to see who can assist medically, scientifically, or with other aspects.
- It was suggested that there be a centralized discussion of research efforts on COVID-19, and how information regarding internal/external collaborations can be transmitted.
The meeting adjourned at 4:02 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Jonathan Lai, Ph.D.
