Dr. Jorge Kizer's research focuses on advancing understanding of biochemical and
imaging determinants of cardiovascular disease and stroke, with the goal of improving
diagnosis and treatment of these disorders. His key areas of interest are obesity and
the aging process, and how bioactive factors secreted by adipocytes, skeletal myocytes,
and cardiomyocytes, among other cell types, lead to dysregulation of homeostatic
mechanisms and promote the development of metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. A
related area of investigation is HIV infection, and the roles of chronic immune
activation and inflammation, and associated perturbations in metaboiism and adipose

Aspirin Dosing: A Patient-Centric Trial Assessing Benefits and Long-Term Effectiveness (ADAPTABLE).
Randomized trial whose aim is to compare the effectiveness of standard-dose versus low-dose aspirin in secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease using the PCORNet structure, including Clinical Data Research Networks (CDRNs).
