Class of 2028

Supreet Aashat, DO, MS

Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine: Supreet is originally from Toronto, Canada. She earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees in Neuroscience from the University of Toronto. Her journey then took her to Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she proudly became a Spartan! Supreet loves dancing, especially Bhangra — a high-energy dance style she's performed competitively her whole life. Beyond dance, she enjoys board games, creating paint by-number artworks, and even launched her own balloon business during the COVID-19 pandemic. Living in New York City has always been on her bucket list. She’s thrilled to finally experience its energy while connecting with the incredible people of the Bronx.

Mikala Cessac, MD

University of Missouri Columbia School of Medicine: I was born and raised outside of St. Louis, Missouri and attended the University of Missouri for undergrad, where I studied Nutritional Science with minors in Biology and Art. I worked as a technician in the emergency department for a year before entering medical school at the University of Missouri. I fell in love with family medicine through my work as a director at my medical school’s student-run free clinic, MedZou. Additionally, my time spent working with a local health mutual aid for the unhoused in my community has propelled my desire to work with those who have historically been underserved. I currently act as the medical student representative for the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) Board of Directors, where I have had the incredible opportunity to advocate for family medicine on the state and national level. I am passionate about street and addiction medicine and caring for all those who walk into the clinic doors. In my free time I love to read, thrift, play my Switch, sweat through a hot yoga class, or tire out my very needy cat. I am incredibly grateful and excited to start serving the Bronx and surrounding areas at Montefiore.

Daniel Dellal, MD

Tulane University School of Medicine: I was born and raised in New York City, and went to Swarthmore College for undergrad, where I studied English and Biology. I went to Tulane Med school where I helped run a mobile outdoor Street Medicine clinic, and edited the literature section of the school arts magazine, Lagniappe. In my spare time, I love to cook, look for frogs in the swamp, surf, and write! I'm so excited to be coming back to New York and helping serve my community at RPSM.

Aviva Rabin-Court, MD

Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University: Dr Aviva Rabin-Court completed her medical degree at the Renaissance School of Medicine. She grew up in Queens and is excited to return to NYC to pursue training in family medicine. She is passionate about health equity and developmental medicine. In her free time, she enjoys knitting, hiking, and exploring NYC’s bookstores.

Sandhya Sanapala, MD

University of Connecticut School of Medicine: Sandhya Sanapala earned her MD from UConn School of Medicine and is passionate about health equity, reproductive healthcare, and community-based primary care. She has worked extensively with communities in Hartford, focusing on maternity care, obstetrics, social determinants of health, and patient advocacy. She has led initiatives in curriculum, gun violence prevention, and doula support. She is excited to continue this work at Montefiore and has a special interest in full-spectrum family medicine and obstetrics healthcare. In her free time, she enjoys going to the gym to lift weights, singing, and playing badminton.

Garrett Schilling, MD

Ohio State University College of Medicine: My name is Garrett, and I’m from Richwood, a small town in central Ohio. I went to undergrad at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and then to Ohio State for medical school. While in medical school, I enjoyed working with our free clinics and newly formed street medicine team. I also helped with our local needle exchange program, working in the harm reduction model. I love all aspects of family medicine but am particularly interested in addiction medicine and homeless healthcare.

Sarah Small, MD, MPH

University of Michigan Medical School: I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and majored in medical anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis. After one gap year, I went to University of Michigan for medical school and stayed an extra year to get an MPH. I’m interested in homelessness medicine and addiction medicine! I’m also a little nervous about living in New York, but my parents and grandparents are born and bred New Yorkers, so I’m hoping to call upon my ancestors when navigating the subway.

Lauren Tucker, MD

The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences: Lauren Tucker (she/her) is excited to join the team! She grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, attended The Ohio State University for undergrad, and just graduated from the University of Toledo for medical school. Some of her interests in Family Medicine are reproductive healthcare and abortion care, addiction medicine, and health equity. Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family. She is looking forward to living in the Bronx and exploring everything it has to offer!

Chidinma (Daisy) Udeagbala, DO

Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine: I’m Chidinma Daisy Udeagbala, a Long Island native with Nigerian roots, navigating life one delicious (and occasionally regretted) meal at a time. I earned my undergraduate degree at Stony Brook and medical degree at LECOM. I love to travel whenever my wallet agrees, and I’m passionate about family medicine because, let’s face it, family is the real foundation of everything. I’m excited for the adventures ahead and the connections I’ll make along the way. Let’s go!!

Karen Weinstock, MD, MPH,

University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine: Karen Weinstock was born and raised in Boston, attended Tufts University for undergraduate training, and relocated to sunny Miami for medical school at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where she got an MD/MPH. She has missed being cold, however, and is excited to venture back up north for residency! Her medical interests are in Homeless medicine, Addiction Medicine, and primary care. Outside of medicine, her interests are broad including animals, arts and crafts, hiking, skiing, and adventuring with friends. In the evenings you can find her watching Survivor with her partner and cats.
