Weekly didactic conferences are dedicated to the review of core topics in cardiology and cardiovascular research, with an emphasis on basic physiology. These sessions are either a formal lecture by the faculty in cardiology, or alternatively a faculty member is identified for each session that assigns reading material and precepts a fellow presentation. Sessions on both campuses are occasionally given by faculty outside of cardiology, thus allowing the review of diverse topics such as:
- clinical study design
- biostatistics (given as a mini-series of lectures by the Biostatistics Department)
- medical ethics
- the changing health care environment for subspecialists
Special sessions are dedicated to presentations by the faculty members in the areas of:
- medical ethics
- end-of-life care
- medical economics
- quality of care
