The Fleischer Institute is the home to two NIH supported research centers, the Einstein-Sinai Diabetes Research Center, which provides the infrastructure for outstanding basic and translational research and the Center for Diabetes Translation Research, which is devoted to behavioral and community-based research. Montefiore Einstein has been in the forefront of scientific discovery since the 1970s and is widely recognized for its excellence in diabetes research. The Fleischer Institute builds on this foundation of excellence by promoting collaboration and providing resources to support new and promising avenues of research in diabetes and metabolism.

Comprehensive Diabetes Care
The Fleischer Institute clinical program encompasses advanced diabetes care at several sites in the Bronx, including the flagship center at 1180 Morris Park Ave., and a newly opened site in Elmsford. Our multidisciplinary team includes endocrinologists, diabetes educators, advanced practice clinicians (nurse practitioners and physician assistants), nutritionists and specialists in behavioral medicine. Our staff is experienced with all forms of diabetes technology including continuous glucose monitors, insulin pumps and hybrid closed loop systems. Patient education programs and support groups are designed to empower patients to take control of their diabetes and achieve optimal health. A specialized program provides dedicated care for young adults living with type 1 diabetes.
