Drs. Liise-anne Pirofski, Theresa Madaline, Connie Park, and Izona Bock were among presenters featured at ID Week 2014, an annual meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA), the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA) and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS).

Dr. Pirofski, Professor of Medicine and Microbiology & Immunology, Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, and Selma and Dr. Jacques Mitrani Chair in Biomedical Research, delivered the Maxwell Finland lecture, "Why isn’t my patient getting better: Revisiting the disease in infectious diseases," and participated in a special symposium on Cryptococcosis, presenting "Rethinking Susceptibility to Cryptococcosis".

Poster presentations included the following:

"Lessons Learned from Early Implementation of Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-ToF MS) with Antimicrobial Stewardship, A Pilot Study" (Dr. Park)

"Tolerability, Adherence and Completion of New Occupational HIV Post-Exposure Prophylaxis Regimens (Tenofovir + Emtricitabine and Raltegravir)" (Dr. Bock, former fellow)

Antimicrobial Stewardship Program Designated as Center of Excellence by IDSA
The Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) at Montefiore, led by medical director Priya Nori, MD, has been designated as a Center for Excellence by The Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA). It is among 25 academic sites in the nation – and one of few in New York City, to receive this prestigious recognition, which was announced on August 15, 2018.
