Teaching Portfolios and evaluations are mandatory for the those faculty members on the Clinician Educator track. Teaching evaluations should be included in the Teaching Portfolio, especially those that are on file with the Office of Medical Education (OME). Candidates should reach out to the Office of Medical Education (OME) for their evaluations and submit them with their application. If the OME does not have evaluations on file, then evaluations from another source should be provided. For applications in the Investigator Track, Physician Investigator Track, Research Professor Track and Associate Track, inclusion of a Teaching Portfolio is highly recommended.
Applications and supporting documents should be sent to the Department of Medicine’s Office of Faculty Affairs for review and Chair approval. Please note, application material should be typed, one-sided, binder clipped (not stapled) and filled out completely.
Referee information must include full name, complete mailing address and valid email address for all external referees. Internal referees must be senior and hold an appointment at Einstein. Providing the name only is sufficient. External referees are people who know you in your field because they know your scholarship, have worked with you on regional or national committees, or have collaborated on research projects, etc. Student referees must be listed with their full name, salutation and a valid email address. They can be past or present students.
No. There may be several reasons for the delay. It is important that you respond as soon as possible to these requests for additional information in order not to delay your application. Note, for confidentiality reasons, the names of those who have not responded will not be disclosed.
Promotions are effective on July 1st of each year. The Department of Medicine solicits nominations for promotions effective the following year in March. Nominees who are approved by the Department of Medicine’s Appointments & Promotions committee will receive an email from the Department’s Faculty Affairs Office with the application requirements. Complete applications are due to the Department by September 15th. The College’s meetings typically do not start until April or May of the following year. Please be advised, the committee’s deliberations are not complete by July 1st but if approved, your promotion will roll back to July 1st.
