Roth to Receive Honorary Ben Gurion Degree

Dr. Jesse Roth, Clinical Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology), will be awarded an honorary doctorate to Ben Gurion University of the Negev during its 42nd Board of Governors Meeting on the evening of Tuesday, May 15, 2012.

Dr. Roth is Professor of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Yeshiva University and Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine as well as Professor of Molecular Medicine, The Elmezzi Graduate School of Molecular Medicine and an investigator at the Laboratory of Diabetes & Metabolic Disorders, Feinstein Institute for Medical Research. An expert in diabetes, he has published more than 400 articles including some “citation classics.” He has been Assistant Surgeon General, spent years at the National Institute of Diabetes Digestive and Kidney Diseases, NIH, eventually rising to head the Diabetes branch, and is the recipient of the Distinguished Service Medal from the U.S. Public Health Service and the American Diabetes Association’s Banting medal, its highest award for scientific achievement.
