Sheryl and Dan Tishman Scholarship Incoming graduate students will be considered for a Tishman Scholarship in Neuroscience. Every year the Tishman Scholarship selection committee evaluates the academic accomplishments of accepted graduate school applicants and recommendations from the faculty they meet during their visit to Einstein to select a small group of prospective graduate students for this prestigious merit-based award. Tishman scholars are awarded an additional $10,000/year supplement on top of their student stipend. This supplement will be awarded for the first three years of graduate school, contingent upon satisfactory performance in courses and rotations. Students who obtain external funding (eg. F31 fellowship or equivalent) or have an original-research, first-author manuscript submitted and under review for publication during the three-year award period will keep the scholarship supplement for the remainder of their graduate studies. Tishman scholars are expected to submit an annual progress report and present their work at annual Tishman symposia, which are also attended by Tishman Postdoctoral Fellows. Additionally, the Student Advisory Committee of Tishman scholars will include the chair of the Neuroscience department as an ad-hoc member. Information about additional awards and funding programs available at the Dominick P. Purpura Department of Neuroscience can be seen here.
