Internal Medicine/Pediatric Track fellows spend equal time in Pediatric and Adult activities. They focus on allergy, asthma, hypersensitivity diseases, primary immunodeficiency and acquired immunodeficiency indirectly HIV. Adult track fellows tend to spend a little more time in the Adult Allergy Division clinical facilities and tend to focus their research efforts on hypersensitivity diseases.
Out-Patient
The outpatient facilities are extremely busy and see the whole range of hypersensitivity and immunologic disorders. The patient population includes a large number of ethnicities and diverse socioeconomic backgrounds ranging from the poorest people in to some of the richest, and everything in between. The Clinical Immunology program has many referrals from out of state clinical providers.
In-patient activities:
consultations are shared between both Divisions. Fellows get the opportunity to consult on both children and adult in-patients. Consult’s are seen every week for problems of drug allergy and desensitization, aspirin desensitization, eosinopphilia, poorly controlled asthma, immunodeficiency, food allergy, and the occasional odd patient that puzzles everyone else.
