Research Profiles
Professional Interests
Dr. Rubinstein is an immunologist and allergist, with experience in pediatric and adult immunodeficiencies. He seeks to understand the mechanisms and therapies for congenital and acquired immunodeficiencies including AIDS, as well as associated autoimmune disorders and infectious diseases. Among disorders and diseases he studies are HIV, hereditary and acquired angioedema, Lyme disease and Mycoplasma (a form of antibiotic-resistant bacteria). His interests also include tumorous, or neoplastic, disorders in immunodeficiency, and the genetics and regulatory mechanisms of B and T cells (both of which play an important role in the immune system).
Dr. Rubinstein designs and participates in clinical trials including enzyme replacement therapies for genetic immune deficiencies, monoclonal antibody therapies, intravenous gamma globulin, and other immunomodulatory therapeutics. His research also encompasses allergic disorders, asthma, and food and drug allergies.
