M.D. Program Admissions Interviews

Applicants to the M.D. program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine who are invited for an admissions interview meet with a clinician or scientist from our 80-member admissions committee who are trained to holistically evaluate your qualifications. All admissions interviews take place virtually.

If you receive an invitation to participate in an interview with Einstein’s admissions committee, you are responsible for scheduling your appointment no later than two weeks from the date of the interview invitation or your invitation will be rescinded. Admissions interviews are conducted Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. We do not offer the option to schedule interviews on weekends.

What to Expect from the Interview Process

Admissions interviews usually last between 30 to 60 minutes. You are encouraged to use this time to openly share experiences and future goals that you think make you a good fit for our M.D. program. If at the end of the interview, you feel there is something important to share that wasn’t covered, we encouraged you to feel comfortable to introduce the topic. If you have an interest in a particular clinical or basic science research discipline, we invite you to communicate directly with principal investigators in your field of interest who are working at Einstein to request a meeting. Please review Einstein’s Policy and Procedures on M.D. Admissions Interviews.

Second Interviews

We understand that sometimes applicants and interviewers may not connect. If you are dissatisfied with how your interview went, we encouraged you to request a second interview immediately, before you receive the letter of disposition from Einstein that summarizes your interview outcome. Once a letter of disposition has been mailed, requests for second interviews will not be considered. Occasionally, the admissions committee invites applicants back for a second interview if further information is needed. Requests for second interviews should be made to Einstein’s office of admissions on the day of interview by contacting Mary Pace, administrator in the office of admissions, at mary.pace@einsteinmed.edu.

Cancelling an Admissions Interview

If you choose not to keep your admissions interview, we request that you use the online scheduling tool to cancel your interview at least 48 hours ahead of your scheduled appointment. If you cancel with fewer than 48 hours’ notice, please also notify Mary Pace in the office of admissions at 718.430.3014 or mary.pace@einsteinmed.edu.
