Dr. Hector Perez is a primary care physician and clinical investigator. His research focus is on improving health outcomes among patients with chronic pain. He is a past awardee of an NIH career development award to develop and pilot test a behavioral intervention to facilitate opioid tapering in primary care. He is also a co-investigator on IMPOWR-ME, an NIH-funded Research Center for studying chronic pain and opioid use disorder at Montefiore-Einstein. He is currently conducting a study of a virtual reality mindfulness intervention for patients with chronic pain and opioid use disorder.

Dr. Perez holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and a medical degree from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed the Montefiore Einstein Primary Care-Social Internal Medicine Program, as well as a T32 Primary Care Research Fellowship in the Division of General Internal Medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center.
