The BETTR program will be open to any training grant eligible candidate holding a Ph.D., M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in their first or second year post-degree who (1) has demonstrated excellence in research, (2) has a desire to pursue a career in academia, and (3) values the importance of teaching.

Applicants will be required to complete an application, including details of graduate school transcripts, research and any relevant teaching experience, a complete CV with publications, meeting presentations, etc.  Also, letters of recommendation will be required.

Promising candidates with proven research productivity will be invited to visit. During the visit, candidates will give a research seminar, meet with current scholars or post-doctoral fellows, research mentors, and at least one of the program directors and coordinators.

Recruitment will be held through the academic year since scholars will spend the first year focused on establishing a research project and entrance into the BETTR program does not depend on the course calendar.

If you are interested in this exciting opportunity, or know of anyone interested, please contact Dianne Cox and Barbara Birshtein. Inclusion of a current CV and a brief statement of teaching background and interests would be helpful.
