Dr. Bruce Soloway has practiced and taught family medicine in outpatient and inpatient settings in the Bronx since completing Montefiore's residency program in family medicine in 1988. For many years, he worked on developing and sharing guidelines for the primary care of patients living with HIV; in 1991, he co-authored one of the earliest monographs on this subject.

Since 2006, Dr. Soloway has served as Vice Chair of the Department of Family and Social Medicine at Einstein and Montefiore, with responsibility for the department's clinical and educational programs. He has been particularly interested in the developing the patient-centered medical home model of care and integrated behavioral health services in urban primary care teaching practices.

Since 2004, Dr. Soloway has served on the editorial board of NEJM Journal Watch General Medicine, a biweekly newsletter summarizing current research of importance to primary care internists and family physicians. Previously, he served on the editorial board of NEJM Journal Watch HIV/AIDS Clinical Care.

Dr. Soloway maintains an active clinical practice at the Montefiore Family Health Center, where his panel includes numerous patients he first met as a medical student and resident, and now some of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as a number of patients he has been treating for HIV for over 20 years whose primary problems are now those of advancing age.
