Employing an H-1B Temporary Worker - Transferring From Another University in the U.S.
For individuals in H-1B status currently working at another University in the U.S., please allow at least 2-3 months for processing the application. The individual may begin working once the Office of International Services (OIS) receives proof of delivery of the application to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS). Please submit documents to the OIS, internationalservices@einsteinmed.edu.
From the Applicant:
- Completed and signed Applicant Worksheet with a copy of :
- CV, biographical passport page and current visa stamp in passport.
- I-94 Arrival/Departure document.
- All form I-797 approval notices, DS-2019, I-20, I-612.
- 4 most recent pay slips from their current employer,
- Highest degree with transcripts. Foreign degrees must be translated & evaluated by a credential evaluation company: https://trustfortecorp.com/.
- Post-doctoral and faculty positions should submit a copy of their 2-3 most important publications.
- If filing for dependents (spouses and unmarried dependent children-under 21 years of age): copies of passport, all immigration documents, marriage certificate, completed Form I-539 and check in the amount of $470 made payable to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Please note: Form I-539 is filled out in the dependents name and the applications should be made together with the employee's H-1B application.
From the department:
- Completed and signed Department Application for Sponsorship of H-1B.
- Letter of Support signed by the Faculty Sponsor/Supervisor.
- Detailed Job description. See template.
- Signed offer letter.
- Two checks made payable to the Department of Homeland Security in the amount of 460.00, $500.00.
- A check request will need to be prepared and submit it to the Accounts Payable Office along with a copy of the USCIS Fee Schedule
The OIS will review the documents and mail them to the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services. Upon receipt of the original receipt notice from the USCIS, the OIS will advise the Faculty Sponsor/Supervisor that the individual may begin employment.
