Events 3rd Stem Cell Institute Retreat On November 1, 2023, more than one hundred and twenty members of the SCI, including faculty, postdocs, graduate students, research trainees, and research technicians, gathered for the third Stem Cell Institute Retreat in beautiful Armonk, NY. Dr. Yaron Tomer, the new Marilyn and Stanley M. Katz Dean of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, gave introductory remarks to kick-off our retreat and expressed his continued strong and unwavering support for our Stem Cell Institute. Interim Director Dr. Ulrich Steidl then highlighted the institute’s progress and vision in a diverse range of areas of stem cell research, and looked back at another year of record-breaking stats, trainee and faculty successes. One of the scientific highlights of the retreat were 18 superb lightning talks by graduate students and postdocs of the Stem Cell Institute. Two plenary scientific sessions featured 8 outstanding talks by SCI faculty who shared their teams’ research progress and vision. 42 graduate students and postdocs did a superb job at the poster session to present and discuss their groundbreaking work in diverse areas of stem cell research, as well as new directions and cross-cutting collaborations. The whole-day event also featured various social activities, and ample opportunities for informal interactions amongst trainees and faculty, and across the entire spectrum of laboratories and diverse areas of stem cell research represented in our institute.
