Journal club is a monthly conference in which fellows make a formal presentation and an in-depth review of a specific recent journal article in cardiology.
Fellows are instructed to follow a specific algorithm for analyzing the contents of each article. This includes:
- the question asked by the investigators and its significance
- the "ideal" way of testing the hypothesis
- the methodology used and its limitations including statistical analyses
- appropriateness and scope of data presentation
- assessment of validity of the conclusions
The relevance of the data to the every day practice of cardiology is briefly assessed at the conclusion of the session with the help of a faculty member.
