John Devens Fisher, MDDr. John Fisher, Professor of Medicine (Cardiology), has been selected to receive the Distinguished Service Award from the Heart Rhythm Society at their upcoming National Scientific Meeting, May 7-10, 2014 in San Francisco. The Distinguished Service Award is one of four major awards given by the Heart Rhythm Society in recognition of an individual who has made outstanding contributions.
Dr. Fisher is Director of the Montefiore Einstein Arrhythmia Service, which includes two component services, Clinical Electrophysiology and Pacemakers/ICDs. The Arrhythmia Service has close ties with cardiothoracic surgery, imaging, basic electrophysiology, and pediatric electrophysiology. Dr. Fisher is also the Training Program Director for the ACGME-accredited fellowship in clinical electrophysiology (CCEP). His research interests include arrhythmia mechanisms and treatment, ablation, VT, VF, SVT, AF, WPW, pacemakers, ICDs, heart failure resynchronization devices, and syncope.
The Heart Rhythm Society, founded in 1979 by four electrophysiologists who recognized the need for a society dedicated to the field cardiac pacing and electrophysiology, distributes four major awards: Distinguished Service, Distinguished Scientist, Distinguished Teacher, and Pioneer in Pacing and Electrophysiology. Dr. Fisher previously received the Pioneer in Pacing and Electrophysiology Award.
