The Interventional Pulmonology team at Montefiore Medical Center provides a range of comprehensive services for patients with benign and malignant pulmonary conditions. Using state-of-the-art techniques, we offer minimally invasive approaches for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This includes flexible bronchoscopy to diagnose lung cancer, evaluate thoracic lymph nodes and to perform lung biopsies, as well as the use of rigid and/or flexible bronchoscopy for endobronchial tumor debulking, balloon dilation, thermal ablation, airway stent insertion and a wide range of other therapeutic modalities. We also offer several diagnostic and therapeutic options for patients with disease of the pleura, the lining of the lung, including thoracentesis, indwelling pleural catheter insertion, pleuroscopy with pleural biopsy, pleurodesis and percutaneous pleural biopsy. Our team is focused on bringing cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment options to our patients and are now offering bronchoscopic lung volume reduction therapy for select patients with emphysema.
The Interventional Pulmonology team offers ambulatory procedures for outpatients, who can go to home the same day as their procedure, as well as a robust inpatient procedure service. For patients requiring ongoing management, the Interventional Pulmonology physicians and nurse practitioner see patients at the Medical Arts Pavilion and the Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care, where we work closely with the multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology team to provide the highest possible quality of care for our patients.
