Paying for Medical School

Welcome to the office of student finance at Albert Einstein College of Medicine! We help M.D. students, as well as those in our graduate programs and Montefiore School of Nursing, find the financial resources to achieve their educational goals.

In spring 2024, we announced Einstein will cover tuition and fees for all M.D. students thanks to a transformational gift from Dr. Ruth L. Gottesman. The David S. and Ruth L. Gottesman Scholarship Fund ensures that these costs will be covered for all M.D. students beginning in August 2024.

Although the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is not required for M.D. students to receive the Gottesman Scholarship, we encourage all students to fill it out. We recognize that many students may still need help with other living expenses, and a completed FAFSA is required to receive federal aid. You may also look for other institutional scholarships on Einstein’s endowed scholarship application portal (a username and password are required). The office of student finance works with all students to develop financial aid packages that serve each individual student’s unique needs.

Our team remains committed to providing you with the financial resources and information you need to focus on your education and navigate your financial journey. We provide detailed information for all students about the cost of attendance, how to apply for financial aid, and accessing your student accounts to pay bills and receive refunds. So, dive in! Explore our resources, and don't hesitate to ask any questions.

You have questions, and we have answers about how the new scholarship fund for M.D. students affects your specific financial aid package.

Einstein Announces Free Tuition for M.D. Students

A transformational gift from Ruth L. Gottesman, Ed.D., chair  of the Einstein Board of Trustees and Montefiore board member, ensures  that no student at Einstein will pay tuition again.

What is The Cost of Attendance?

Expenses at Einstein vary from student to student. Your overall financial aid award package is based many factors, including eligibility for federal aid and cost-of-attendance estimates called “budgets,” which are based on academic program and class level.
