The office of student finance is here to help you find the resources you need to make smart decisions about scholarships and loans, how to manage your debt, as well as how to achieve overall financial wellbeing. We’ve compiled a variety of financial wellness resources from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) to assist you with making decisions about how to best finance your medical education.
Food Assistance for Students
Students who need assistance securing enough food to maintain an active, healthy life while meeting the demands of the educational programs at Einstein may be eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) through the U.S. government. Previously known as "food stamps," SNAP is a federal program that helps people with limited income purchase food through an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card that you can use like a debit card.
How to Apply for SNAP
- Create an account or log in to an existing New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) account on the ACCESS HRA website
- Select SNAP–Apply
- Complete the online application
- Call the HRA information line at 718-557-1399 to have an application mailed to you
- If HRA needs additional information, the agency will contact you
- If HRA has everything they need, the agency will make a decision on your case and send you a notice
Please note that the SNAP application process requires you to answer questions about yourself and your household, some of which may require submitting support and verification documents that you can upload via the ACCESS HRA mobile app .
Accessing Local Food Banks
A community food pantry is available on campus in Albert’s Den, located in the Max L. and Sadie Friedman Lounge area of the Leo Forchheimer Medical Science Building.
