Office of Grant Support’s Grant-Writing Workshop: "Better grant proposals, better research!"
The Office of Grant Support (OGS) has invited two of our own faculty members, Dr. Ellie Schoenbaum, Professor, Department of Epidemiology & Population Health, Director, Medical Student Research, Office of Medical Education, and Dr. Charles Hall, Professor, Department of Epidemiology & Population Health, for presenting seminar sessions to provide guidance for grant writing.
As Director of Medical Student Research, Dr. Schoenbaum is in charge of training the academic physicians. As a former director of Einstein’s Clinical Research Training Program (CRTP), she directs a grant-writing course for CRTP-scholars mostly pursuing NIH career development awards. Dr. Schoenbaum has had many funded grants and sat on study section at NIH for years. She was also a member of Council at NIDA. Dr. Schoenbaum will provide grant writing guidance from a mentor’s perspective.
As a biostatistician by training, Dr. Hall investigates the connection between cognitive activities and the onset of age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. Since 2001, he has been a senior biostatistician for the Einstein Aging Study (EAS). In recent years Dr. Hall's main work has been the lead statistician for the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program at the Fire Department of the City of New York. Dr. Hall has been the Principal Investigator of multiple NIH Grants and Cooperative Agreements. He also has significant experience as NIH study section or review committee member. Dr. Hall will present a reviewer’s perspective and guidance.
