Overview Division HEAD: Aileen P. McGinn, Ph.D. aileen.mcginn@einsteinmed.edu The Mission of the Division of Biomedical and Bioethics Research Training is to foster the training of clinical researchers and bioethics practitioner-scholars for the Einstein and Montefiore community, and for the larger community of New York City. The Division offers a range of educational programs, including two masters’ programs, the Clinical Research Training Program (CRTP) and the Master of Science in Bioethics (MBE), and a certificate program in bioethics. The Clinical Research Training Program is an intensive two-year program designed for those pursuing a career in investigator-initiated, hypothesis-driven clinical research, and is offered through the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) at Einstein and Montefiore. CRTP is scholars are drawn from all of Einstein’s medical specialties and subspecialties, including those interested in clinical investigation across the entire translational research spectrum, from mechanistic studies to population-based and health services research. The comprehensive program combines didactic learning and coursework with a mentored research experience. View CRTP and ICTR Educational and Career Development Offerings The Ph.D. in Clinical Investigation (PCI) is offered for Ph.D. students enrolled in Einstein’s graduate division and for M.D./Ph.D. students in Einstein’s Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP). The Montefiore Einstein PCI concentration track can prepare you to conduct research that will improve the health and welfare of society using clinical and translational research methodology. The Certificate Program in Bioethics and the Medical Humanities, ongoing for more than twenty years, trains a range of professionals, including doctors, lawyers, nurses, writers, social workers, law and medical students and recent college graduates in a year-long introductory bioethics course. The MBE is a collaboration between Einstein and Cardozo Law, and is one of very few bioethics programs sponsored jointly by a medical school and a law school. The MBE can be completed in one calendar year full time or over several years part-time. The focus is on practical work in bioethics, including bioethics consultation and mediation, and the ethical analysis of research. Mindful of our home in New York City, we address the challenges that affect a racially and ethnically diverse urban population.
