Jennifer Garner, MSWThe Department of Medicine is pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Garner, MSW, as Unified Department Administrator.
Ms. Garner, who began her new role March 7, completed a bachelor's degree at the University of Southern Mississippi and a master's degree in social work and gerontology at Louisiana State University. After three years as a social worker, she became practice manager of the outpatient and hospitalist practices, then operations manager of the Hospital Medicine Group and the Urgent Care & Occupational Health Clinic at Baton Rouge General Medical Center, simultaneously managing the busy hospitalist practice while integrating and operating the Urgent Care & Occupational Health clinic and internal medicine practice. She relocated to New York in 2012 to become administrator of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Bone Disease at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she oversaw the successful integration of the Mount Sinai Division of Endocrinology with the Endocrine Divisions at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt and Beth Israel, including clinical, academic, and research programs; grant spending; budget development and compliance; strategic planning; quality assurance; faculty productivity; and staff training.
"Ms. Garner's extensive experience in healthcare administration, strategic planning, managing large research operations and budgets, and quality assurance will be an asset to our Department," said Dr. Yaron Tomer, Anita and Jack Saltz Chair in Diabetes Research and Professor and University Chair of the Department of Medicine.
