Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s Council for Diversity and Inclusion in Science and Medicine reviews and coordinates diversity and inclusion initiatives and activities that take place across our educational continuum. The council—which includes Einstein administrators and representatives from various faculty, student, and staff organizations—advises the dean on matters related to diversity and plays a key role in communicating and distributing our diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives. The Council for Diversity and Inclusion in Science and Medicine at Einstein performs the following duties:

  • advises the dean and Einstein’s leadership on diversity and inclusion issues
  • communicates and distributes Einstein’s diversity and inclusion programs, initiatives, and priorities
  • coordinates activities among members that support diversity and inclusion efforts in different stakeholder units
  • advocates for diversity and inclusion initiatives at Einstein

The council is comprised of 80 representatives from student admissions, student affairs, medical education, graduate medical education, graduate education, postdoctoral affairs, and other leadership groups who represent the office of diversity enhancement, LGBTQ+ affairs, women in academic medicine, and school-wide diversity and inclusion initiatives. We meet monthly during the academic year and our chairs regularly discuss council matters with Einstein’s senior leadership and deans.
