Research Profiles

Professional Interests

Dr. Hosgood is an Associate Professor and the Atran Foundation Chair in Epidemiology and Population Health at the Albert Einstein College Medicine in the Bronx, NY.  He is also the director of Global Environmental Health for the Global Health Center, co-leader of the Cancer Epidemiology Prevention & Control Program of the Montefiore Einstein Cancer Center, and co-director of the Ph.D. in Clinical Investigation. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University (Chemistry), he received his master's degree (Environmental Health Sciences) and doctorate from Yale University (Epidemiology). Dr. Hosgood was also a pre-doctoral, post-doctoral, and research fellow in the Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology Branch of the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics at the National Cancer. Dr. Hosgood’s research focuses on identifying associations between environmental exposures and adverse health outcomes, with an emphasis on cancer and gene-environment interactions.  He utilizes advanced population- and clinical-based methods that integrate observational study designs, cutting-edge exposure assessments, and biomarkers of susceptibility (i.e., genetic data) to elucidate the complex mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis. He helped establish the Female Lung Cancer Consortium in Asia (FLCCA), is involved in the Asia Cohort Consortium, and is the Principal Investigator of the Household Air Pollution Consortium, which is studying mortality associated with heating and cooking fuels among ~1,000,000 participants worldwide.
