Faculty Awards & Recognition

Albert Einstein College of Medicine presents a variety of awards to recognize and honor faculty for their contributions to and accomplishments in medical education, research, and service within and beyond our school. We celebrate institutional, department-level, and external awards that Einstein faculty receive for their commitment and dedication as educators, researchers, and scholars. Faculty promotions are acknowledged at an annual promotions party. Most faculty awards are highlighted at the annual spring faculty celebration. Education awards are presented at commencement.

Research Awards & Recognition

Marshall S. Horowitz Prize for Research Excellence

The Marshall S. Horowitz Prize for Research Excellence honors research faculty at Albert Einstein College of Medicine who conduct groundbreaking research in the basic sciences. Named after Dr. Marshall Horowitz, an internationally renowned physician-scientist who discovered how genes encoded by adenovirus caused disease and then converted those disease-causing genes into therapeutic tools for diabetes, the award recognizes faculty who demonstrate exceptional research scholarship. Dr. Horowitz was one of the founding faculty of Einstein’s M.D./Ph.D. program and served as the former chair of Montefiore Einstein’s Department of Microbiology and Immunology. View all Marshall S. Saul R. Korey Award in Translational Medicine

The Saul R. Korey Award honors Einstein faculty for excellence in translational research. Named after Dr. Saul Korey, a distinguished neuroscientist and laboratory investigator whose legacy includes improving awareness of neurological disabilities and spearheading research at Einstein on a variety of neurodegenerative diseases, the award recognizes faculty who demonstrate exceptional contributions to translational medicine. Montefiore Einstein Presidential Lecture Award

The Montefiore Einstein Presidential Lecture highlights outstanding researchers at Montefiore Einstein. Selected faculty members are invited to deliver a lecture about their research contributions to foster discussion and promote research collaboration. Education Awards & Recognition

Leo M. Davidoff Society

Election to the Leo M. Davidoff Society, named after Leo M. Davidoff, founding chair of the Montefiore Einstein Department of Neurosurgery and former associate dean of education at Einstein, honors teachers who have made significant contributions to the education of M.D. students at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Nominees must have faculty appointments at Einstein and have demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching for at least five years. View all Davidoff Society members.

Educational Services Award

The Educational Services Award honors individuals who have provided significant service in educational administration as part of the M.D. program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. View all Educational Services Award recipients.

Harry H. Gordon Award for Outstanding Clinical Teaching

The Harry H. Gordon Award for Outstanding Clinical Teaching, named after celebrated pediatrician Dr. Harry Gordon, former dean of Albert Einstein College of Medicine and founding director of the Rose F. Kennedy Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center, is a faculty-nominated award that recognizes outstanding educators and leaders during the clinical phase of Einstein’s M.D. curriculum. Harry Eagle Award for Outstanding Preclerkship Teaching

The Harry Eagle Award for Outstanding Preclerkship Teaching, named after Dr. Harry Eagle, founding chair of the Montefiore Einstein Department of Cell Biology and the first director of Albert Einstein Cancer Center, is a faculty-nominated award that recognizes teachers who are outstanding educators and leaders during the pre-clerkship phase of the M.D. curriculum at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching

The Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching is given to an individual who has been a great teacher and leader for our MD students in recognition of a lifetime of significant service to Einstein and Einstein students. Samuel M. Rosen Award for Outstanding Teaching

The Samuel M. Rosen Award for Outstanding Teaching recognizes faculty members who demonstrate outstanding leadership, commitment, and achievement in developing innovative methods for teaching, learning, evaluation, and assessment of students in the M.D. program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
