Dr. Sarah W. Baron completed medical education and Primary Care/Internal Medicine residency at New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Baron served as Chief Resident of Quality and Safety at the Manhattan campus of the VA NY Harbor Health System, one of approximately 50 residents chosen in the country to participate in this program though the National Center for Patient Safety at the VA.
Dr. Baron joined Montefiore in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Hospital Medicine in 2014 where she now serves as the Director of Inpatient Quality, a teaching hospitalist, and an Assistant Professor of medicine. She regularly lecturers to the residents about systems-based improvement methodologies and error reporting.
Dr. Baron has been involved in multiple quality improvement efforts within the Department including her efforts improving rates of venous thromboembolism prophylaxis across the Montefiore hospital system. She also led the team that increased the speed with which Clostridium difficile testing results become available to providers in an effort to decrease rates of Hospital Onset Clostridium difficile. She is currently enrolled in the Clinical Research Training Program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her capstone project is an attempt to understand the distribution of asymptomatic Clostridium difficile carriers within our hospital system.
