Professional Interests

Dr. Denisa Ferastraoaru is Associate Professor of Medicine in Allergy and Immunology and attending physician at  Einstein/ Montefiore and Jacobi Medical Centers. Dr. Ferastraoaru is board certified in both pediatric and adult Allergy /Immunology and Internal Medicine. She received her medical degree at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania. She completed an Internal Medicine residency at Jacobi Medical Center followed by her Allergy/Immunology fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Ferastraoaru treats both adults and children for a multitude of allergic disorders, including environmental and food allergies, asthma, urticaria, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis. 

Dr. Ferastraoaru leads the IgE deficiency project where she made important research contributions to the association between absent IgE levels and higher risk of malignancy. In addition, Dr. Ferastraoaru is the Co-Director of the Chronic Sinusitis Clinic at Montefiore where she leads Local Allergic Rhinitis initiative, the only center in the tri-state area for Local Allergic Rhinitis diagnosis and treatment.
