Professional Interests

Dr. Mary Gover received her medical degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons.  She completed her residency at Montefiore in the Primary Care and Social Internal Medicine Program and served as chief resident for that program.

 

Dr. Gover has held many leadership positions at Montefiore - including Associate Program Director for the Primary Care and Social Internal Medicine Program, HIV and Hepatitis C physician site champion, and her current role of Assistant Medical Director of the Comprehensive Health Care Center.

 

Dr. Gover has clinical expertise in primary and preventative care, care for those living with HIV and Hepatitis C, and care for the LGBTQ community.  She has a strong clinical and academic interest in risk communication in health care and in lifestyle medicine. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Lifestely Medicine.

 

Dr. Gover believes not only in the importance of clinical excellence in patient care but also in collaboration and partnership.  She is currently working with WellCoaches to become health coach certified.

 

Dr. Gover is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Hastings Center.  She is on the Clinical Care Committee for Callen-Lorde Community Health Center.  And, she is a collaborating facilitator for Radical Health.  Dr. Gover works closely with the School for Visual Arts Design for Social Innovation Program with the goal of bringing design thinking methodology to health care innovation and education.
