Biografía

Kevin Fiori, MD, MPH, MSc, es pediatra general, investigador y educador. Es Profesor Asociado de la División de Pediatría General Académica y del Departamento de Medicina Familiar y Social del Colegio de Medicina Albert Einstein. Es Vicepresidente de Salud y Participación Comunitaria y Jefe de División inaugural de la División de Salud Comunitaria y Poblacional del Departamento de Pediatría, Director Ejecutivo del Instituto de Trabajadores de Salud Comunitaria de Montefiore y Director de Determinantes Sociales de la Salud de la Oficina de Salud Comunitaria y Poblacional del Sistema de Salud Montefiore.

In 2002, he participated in the Master’s International Program combining graduate work at Boston University School of Public Health and Peace Corps service.  As a Peace Corps health specialist Volunteer in Togo, West Africa from 2003-2007, he collaborated on multiple community based health initiatives.  In 2004, he co-founded an international non-governmental organization, called Integrate Health, for which he currently serves as Senior Adviser and Director of its embedded research unit, the Community Health Systems Lab. Integrate Health works in collaboration with the Togolese Ministry of Health to improve access and quality of primary health care. He is primary investigator on multiple ongoing implementation research studies in Togo and the Bronx focused on improving health service delivery, especially integration of community health workers.  He was a Fellow in New York State’s Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program.  His domestic research focuses on integrating social needs screening and community health workers outreach in Bronx primary care centers.  

Dr. Fiori’s teaching activities focus on global health, clinical pediatrics, health service delivery, and social medicine.  He co-directs the Global Health Elective course for the Department of Pediatrics.  He is an advisory board member for the Global Health Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Fiori’s clinical activities are based in the South Bronx providing primary care to families at a Federally Qualified Health Center.  He provides mentorship to Pediatric residents in the Social Pediatrics Residency Program.

In 2016, Dr. Fiori joined the faculty in both the Departments of Pediatrics and Family and Social Medicine after completing residency training in Social Pediatrics and serving as Chief Resident at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore.  He completed a MD at the University of Washington, MPH at Boston University School of Public Health, and MSc in Clinical Research Methods at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.  He holds a BS in Chemistry and a BA in Human Development from the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Fiori was awarded the Ellen Griep Award for Excellence by University of Washington School of Medicine, the 2015 Chairman’s Award for Distinction in Research and 2015 Behavioral Science Award for Excellence from the Department of Family and Social Medicine. Dr. Fiori and Jennifer Schechter were awarded the 2016 Sargent Shriver Award for Distinguished Humanitarian Service by the National Peace Corps Association.
