Shima Sokol, MD, FAAOS is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery. She is an attending orthopedic surgery at Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital. Dr. Sokol treats conditions affecting the hand and upper extremity. Her clinical interests include fracture, tendon and overuse injuries of the elbow, wrist and hand. She also treats nerve injuries and compression syndromes, such as carpal tunnel syndrome.
Dr. Sokol graduated cum laude from Princeton University. She earned her medical degree from the University of California, Davis and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her orthopedic surgery residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. During her residency, she was awarded the Richard Selznick Memorial Research award. She completed her fellowship training in hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery at the University of California, Davis Medical Center.
Dr. Sokol is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).
