Biography:
Dr. Hyun S. Kim is a pulmonary physician with a unique background in interventional pulmonology, having successfully completed his subspecialty fellowship at the Harvard combined Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center- Massachusetts General Hospital program in Boston, MA. He received his engineering degree in biomedical engineering at the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, then received his medical degree at Rush University Medical College in Chicago, IL. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Boston, MA, where he was appointed to serve as a chief medical resident with a focus on improving trainee education and revision of learning curriculum. Dr. Kim remained at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center to finish his fellowship in pulmonary and critical care before specializing further in the field of interventional pulmonology.
His clinical focus are palliative and therapeutic airway procedures, advanced imaging guided nodule biopsy, management of chronic pleural diseases, bronchoscopic lung volume reduction for obstructive lung diseases, and bronchoscopic therapies for in-situ lung cancer. He has published his work in areas of airway obstructions, trachea-esophageal fistula, pleural diseases, tracheostomy outcomes in SARS CoV-2 respiratory failures, machine learning to predict clinical outcomes, and lung cancer screening.
