Professional Interests

With a lifelong commitment to international health, poverty medicine, and human rights, Dr. Paccione is the Director of Global Health Education for the Primary Care and Social Internal Medicine Residency program. He has served on the Board of Directors of Doctors for Global Health and Doctors of the World, and in recent years has worked in Vietnam, Chile, Bosnia, and Uganda.

Dr. Paccione is currently a Professor of Clinical Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and has twice been named Teacher of the Year by the Montefiore house staff. He has received the same honor from the Einstein student body (the Samuel Rosen Award) and the Einstein faculty (the Harry Gordon Award). In 1997, he was named the Mid-Atlantic Clinician-Educator of the Year by the Society of General Internal Medicine.

Dr. Paccione served as the Director of the Primary Care Program from 1985 until 2007, and Director of the Social Internal Medicine Program from 1997 until 2007. He oversaw the joining of the two programs in 1999. Dr. Paccione is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and completed his residency training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr. Paccione was previously an Assistant Professor of Community Medicine at CCNY's Biomed Program, and a Robert Wood Johnson Scholar in Clinical Epidemiology at Yale University. From 1986 to 2004, he served as Medicine Firm Chief (Firm III).
