Professional Interests
Dr. Jankauskas is the top expert in mitochondrial biology with a special focus on reactive oxygen species, and quality-control mechanisms, including mitophagy and calcium signaling. During his career, he studied the role of mitochondria in different pathologies including heart failure, type 1 diabetes, obesity and type 2 diabetes, acute kidney injury, and chronic kidney disease. Dr. Jankauskas has deep technical expertise in different visualizing approaches, including confocal microscopy and live imaging.
