Dr. Goldstein is a clinical hematologist, interested in maximizing his patient care skills. He has been recognized for his achievements by two special awards of which he is most proud. The first is the Montefiore Staff and Alumni Award, given by his medical colleagues for his skill as a hematology consultant, for his teachiing abilities, and for his service to the Medical Center. The awardee is chosen from among the hundreds of physicians working at Montefiore. The second is the Montefiore President's Award. The awardee is chosen by representatives of the Nursing and Administrative staffs, and by members of the 1199 Union, from among all 9,000 persons working at the Montefiore-Einstein Medical Center, and recognizes exceptional patient care. Dr. Goldstein has been teaching Hematology continuously since 1966. His pupils have ranged from second year medical students to the Vice-Chair of a department. In his community, Dr. Goldstein and his wife received the Open Door Award for Community Service, reflecting decades of service and leadership in multiple areas of need.
