Biography

<p>Konrad I. Gruson, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with expertise in shoulder surgery and a clinical focus on arthroscopic and open rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic instability repair, open coracoid transfer for recurrent shoulder instability, and conventional and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty. As an Associate Professor at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine, his research focuses on the outcomes of rotator cuff surgery, the complications of shoulder arthroscopy, and the outcomes of total shoulder replacement.</p><p>After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Gruson attended the New York University School of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Following his residency training in orthopedic surgery at the New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases, he completed a fellowship in shoulder surgery at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.</p><p>Dr. Gruson is actively engaged with resident and medical student education. Peer-reviewed journals have published his articles on shoulder surgery and, as a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the New York State Medical Society, and a Diplomate of the American Board of OrthopaedicSurgery, he has presented his research findings at local and national meetings. Dr. Gruson is fluent in German.</p>

<p>My clinical area of expertise and my research focus is sports medicine. I am an active member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports medicine. I am the Director of Sports Medicine for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center. In this position, I am responsible for educating residents in the field of sports medicine. This includes developing the core curriculum, didactic lectures, on-field experience, and developing their arthoscopic surgical skills. Within sports medicine, my field of interest is in shoulder surgery and I have published articles on shoulder pathology.</p>

<p>David Gonzalez, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in treating sports injuries. He is an expert in performing arthroscopic shoulder and knee surgery, including rotator cuff repair, instability repair, labral repair, meniscal tears and the treatment of associated conditions. He is the Director of the Sports Medicine section and serves as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Gonzalez is a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.</p><p>Dr. Gonzalez graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine with honors and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. After completing his orthopedic surgery residency at Montefiore Medical Center, he completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Nirschl Orthopedic Center at Virginia Hospital Center-Arlington.</p><p>The results of his research have been presented at local and national professional meetings, and has been published in peer-reviewed journals. His recent findings on the basic science of rotator cuff tendon healing were presented at the Orthopedic Research Society Meeting in March of 2016.</p><p>Dr. Gonzalez is Team Physician for multiple high schools and colleges. He was honored with the Pedro Vialet award for his dedication in caring for the athletes at Lehman College. Dr. Gonzalez has been featured as an expert in Sports Medicine on ABC news. He is also fluent in Spanish.</p><p>Dr. Gonzalez was elected to serve as a Member of the Council of Delegates for the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.</p>
