Einstein Awards and Honors

Celebrating and promoting faculty accomplishments in teaching, research, and service within and beyond the institution is of major importance to Einstein. Below are some examples of awards faculty may be eligible for and the qualifications for each:

  • Education
    • Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching 
      • Einstein appointment (current faculty or emeritus). 
      • Member of Davidoff Society. 
      • Completed terminal degree at least 25 years by award date. 
      • May be awarded posthumously. 
      • Greater than 10 years of service as a teaching faculty in MD program. 
      • If course/clerkship director, the course/clerkship has received consistently high student ratings. 
      • As faculty member, the individual must have consistently high ratings as a lecturer, facilitator, and/or clinical instructor. 
      • Demonstrated remarkable achievement(s) as a faculty member. 
      • Demonstrated leadership and/or mentorship in medical education. 
      • Demonstrated exceptional service to educational administration and/or committees. 
    • Harry Eagle Award for Outstanding Pre-Clerkship Teaching 
      • Einstein appointment. 
      • Member of Davidoff Society.
      • Must teach in the basic and/or foundational sciences.
      • If course director, the course has received consistently high student ratings. 
      • As faculty member, the individual must have consistently high ratings as a lecturer and/or facilitator. 
      • Demonstrated leadership/mentorship/service in medical education. 
    • Harry H. Gordon Award for Outstanding Clinical Teaching 
      • Einstein appointment. 
      • Member of Davidoff Society. 
      • Must teach in the clinical sciences program. 
      • If course/clerkship director or site leader, the course/clerkship or site has received consistently high student ratings. 
      • As faculty member, the individual must have consistently high ratings as a clinical preceptor or clinical instructor, and, if pertinent, high ratings as a lecturer and/or facilitator. 
      • Demonstrated leadership/mentorship/service in medical education. 
    • Educational Service Award 
      • Einstein appointment. 
      • Greater than five (5) years of service. 
      • Serve as or lead in multiple educational administration (non-teaching) roles such as serving as a member or Chair of Medical Education Council Committees, Subcommittees, and Task Forces, or Office of Medical Education Task Forces and Work Groups. 
      • Successful administration of educational programs such as courses, clerkships, and electives (does not include effort in teaching). 
      • Implemented innovative programs for faculty or administrators to enhance teaching and learning. 
      • Demonstrated leadership/mentorship/service in medical education. 
    • Samuel M. Rosen Award for Outstanding Teaching (Pre-Clerkship)
    • Samuel M. Rosen Award for Outstanding Teaching (Clinical)
    • LaDonne H. Schulman Award for Excellence in Teaching
  • Research
    • Marshall S. Horowitz Award
    • Saul Korey Award in Translational Medicine
    • Presidential Lecture
  • Leadership
