Albert Einstein College of Medicine maintains tenure and nontenure tracks for a broad range of faculty members. We have several faculty ranks and academic tracks that recognize different levels of experience, expertise, and accomplishments in specific domains. More detailed criteria for appointment, promotion, and tenure are specified on the office of academic appointments intranet website (AD credentials required).
The following groups are key participants in our appointment, promotion, and tenure processes:
- the faculty candidate
- the department appointment and promotion committee
- the department chair
- individuals who provide evaluations of the candidate
- the office of academic appointments at Albert Einstein College of Medicine
- the school-wide appointment and promotion committee of Albert Einstein College of Medicine (for senior rank positions)
- the dean of Albert Einstein College of Medicine
Tenure
Faculty on the Einstein payroll who are on the investigator or the physician investigator track are eligible to apply for tenure with promotion to the rank of professor if they meet financial criteria. Tenure is awarded only with recommendation from the department chair and the appropriate department appointment and promotion committee, as well as with the approval of the school-wide committee on appointments and promotions, the dean, and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Board of Trustees. Learn more about Einstein’s tenure and compensation policy (AD credentials required).
If you have additional questions about the faculty appointment, promotion, or tenure process, please contact Tara Panebianco, director of academic appointments, at academicappointments@einsteinmed.edu.
