Housing: Subsidized affordable housing is available both on the Moses campus and in nearby Riverdale. A free shuttle service runs regularly between housing and the clinical training sites. Many residents and faculty members live in Manhattan, Westchester County, New Jersey, or Queens, and have short commutes (under 30 minutes). Rockland County, Brooklyn, and Long Island are also easily accessible.

Contracts:  Housestaff contracts are issued by Montefiore Medical Center or Jacobi Medical Center.

Salaries and benefits:  House staff are paid according to a schedule which reflects their training year (PGY) level. Provided salaries are competitive amongst programs in the northeast region and nationally.

All house staff and dependents are covered by basic health insurance. Residents may opt for one of our different plans which insure for hospitalization and major medical coverage. Supplemental welfare benefits include life insurance, short term and long term disability, dental, optical and psychiatric benefits, and a prepaid legal services plan. All house staff are covered by malpractice insurance. Residents receive four weeks vacation in each year of the residency training program.  All get $500 in books or other teaching aids annually.   Parking at MMC - $60/mo; JMC $12/mo. 

Recreation: Membership to the Anne & Isidore Falk Recreation Center/Max & Sadie Friedman Athletic Center, an Einstein on campus athletic facility is available at minimal cost. The facility boasts a 75-foot, temperature-controlled swimming pool, gymnasium with full-size basketball court, indoor running track, racquetball and squash courts, and a fitness center with a broad selection of weight-training stations and fitness machines to meet your specific needs. A variety of programs and scheduled activities, including badminton, volleyball, soccer nights, early bird swim, women’s swim and men’s swim are held. Faculty, housestaff and students at Einstein participate in intramural leagues that are held annually for basketball, volleyball and soccer, as well as contests for free-throw and three-point shooting, and tournaments for squash, racquetball and badminton.

The Bronx and the Greater New York Metropolitan Area.  The Bronx contains a mix of safe ethnic neighborhoods, and places of interest including the Botanical Gardens, the Bronx Zoo, Wave Hill (an old estate overlooking the Hudson River), Orchard Beach, City Island, and Yankee Stadium. All are within a short drive of either campus.

The Medical School and its affiliated hospitals are close to Manhattan, where cultural and recreational opportunities abound, and a short drive from other places of interest in the greater metropolitan area and beyond. The region offers antiquing in the Mid-Hudson Valley, the mountains of New York State, Westchester County's extensive system of parks, and numerous beaches along the shores of Long Island and New Jersey.
