Paola Nicolas We are thrilled to announce that our colleague Paola Nicolas, Ph.D, M.B.E., HEC-C, will be joining us as a full-time faculty member of the Montefiore Einstein Center for Bioethics this March. Paola Nicolas has already been serving part time as the Assistant Director for the Bioethics Education Programs. She is coming to us from Northwell Health where she was Medical Ethicist in the Division of Medical Ethics. Prior to her position at Northwell, she was an assistant professor at New York Medical College, School of Medicine, in the Biomedical Ethics & Humanities program. She also completed a fellowship in Clinical Ethics at Montefiore Einstein Center for Bioethics where she received accreditation as a healthcare ethics consultant (HEC-C). She holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University Paris I-Panthéon Sorbonne, a Certificate in bioethics from Columbia University and a M.B.E. from Montefiore-Einstein School of Medicine. She taught philosophical ethics and bioethics at University Paris I-Panthéon Sorbonne, Fordham University, New York University, City University of New York and Montefiore-Einstein School of Medicine. Her areas of research are clinical ethics, European bioethics & Feminist Bioethics. She is particularly dedicated to addressing healthcare disparities and increasing awareness regarding diversity issues. In addition, Paola Nicolas is a former student of the École Normale Supérieure (Paris-Ulm) and passed the “agrégation de philosophie” (the most competitive examination in philosophy in France). We expect that her depth of experience and knowledge will greatly enrich our educational and clinical programs. We are delighted to welcome Dr. Nicolas to our team!
